What does the research say?
“... there are about twenty controlled research studies that have been conducted since the late 1980s to examine the various types of help available following the completion of residential or outpatient treatment. They suggest that interventions lasting at least twelve months or in which greater efforts were made to reach and engage clients—for instance by visiting the home, approaching clients by telephone calls, use of incentives such as money, or involving significant others—appeared to be the most effective. And two studies showed that “recovery management checkups” can help get people back in treatment when needed and significantly increased days of abstinence following treatment.” - Anne M. Fletcher. “Inside Rehab.”
3 Legged Stool Approach by Gerald Shulman
"What will it take to enhance the likelihood of successful recovery for today's patients? Relying on my 50 years of experience as a clinician, clinical supervisor, administrator, trainer and consultant, I have arrived at the conclusion that recovery for many is supported by a three-legged stool. The seat of the stool represents recovery and the three legs represent psychosocial treatment, recovery support services (including case management), and pharmacotherapy or medication-assisted treatment.
Psychosocial treatment incorporates the 12-Step, disease model approach but is broadened by the addition of trauma care and other evidence-based treatments such as motivational enhancement therapy (MET), cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), hypnotherapy, neurolinguistic programming (NLP) and eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR). It also might include the Community Reinforcement Approach (CRA), family and couples therapy and assertive community treatment (ACT), depending on patients' clinical and demographic presentations." - Gerald Shulman

But what is better than the best? More of the best!
Humans are complex beings. We each carry our own degree of physical and emotional pain and are the results of our own unique histories, families and influences. It is important to recognize that there is no cookie cutter approach to health and healing–we simply do not travel the same paths in life. The struggle to cope with physical and emotional pain is complex. That’s why some people are able to embrace the program as is, and have all of their needs met while others do better with additional support. Our principal concern is for your well-being, so we have created an extensive menu for your customized and unique care package.

How do we meet/connect?
We like Fuze Box, which is like Skype only better. We can schedule meetings for up to 5 persons at a time by email and you only need to click on a link in that email to join the meeting. It walks you through it very clearly and simply. We will do a test meeting just to make sure we can all do it.
In conclusion
One of the few consistent findings in addiction treatment research over the past 30 years is that people have better treatment outcomes the longer they stay engaged in treatment (Simpson, 1979; Simpson, Joe, Fletcher, Hubbard, & Anglin, 1999; Siegal, Li, & Rapp, 2002).

"Our son hit bottom in November of 2012. Having been in out of treatment for over 6 years we were afraid we were finally going to lose him. We were desperate and didn't know where to turn when Tim was recommended to us. As a change coach he took over and helped guide us through the turbulent weeks and months ahead. Tim mentored us in writing intervention letters to our son, selecting the best in patient treatment facility for him, traveling with him and coordinating his treatment regimen both during and most importantly after his discharge. For the first 6 months we had weekly phone consultations with Tim during which he would update us on our sons progress and advise us on how to interact with him during this critical period. After his discharge, he advised us on the best options for housing, selecting the best therapist and getting him active in the local AA chapter and getting a sponsor.
Our son has been sober for 15 months and is living a happy, productive and healthy life. There are no guarantees but we finally feel like we have our son back for the first time in over 10 years. We credit Tim for helping us put all the pieces together that gave him the best chance for discovering the road to recovery. Tim, we thank you and Sustainable Recovery from the bottom of our hearts." - Ed & Marne Holstein

Tim lives his recovery and his service to it. If you need any help for yourself, a friend or family member who is having a hard time with addiction, Tim is a trustworthy and invaluable, completely reliable and confidential, source of service and information.
Tim is not the same person as Ticht Nhat Hanh, but many of his online comments lately have led me to nickname him 'Tim Nhat Hanh'. He is a wise man who can help people look inwards at themselves.
Do not hesitate to contact him if you may need to avail yourself or someone close to you of his services, his capabilities and his help. He can get people through and out of what many may feel is an impossible situation.
Forever grateful,
Peter O.
